Just Be Revolution – “Your Way Or Their Way”

This is a very personal post today, I know that being comfortable and content is one thing but happiness is SO much more. Feeling ‘enough’ to receive anything is a struggle. To receive thanks, money, gratitude, compliments… name it.
I’ve already achieved much in my life but was it “My Way” or “Their Way”… enjoy!

“All my life, when I’m truly honest with myself I’ve always done the ‘right thing’ or ‘what’s expected.’ I passed high school well, I traveled for a year, I went to uni and graduated, got married, work hard, had kids, am a good mum and wife. I’m now 33 with 3 kids and although I’m content I do sometimes wonder what would life look like IF?”

Just Be- Blog “Your Are Your Thoughts”

Please click on the link below to read more from my Just Be Revolution Blog post:

“When you spend so much time in a negative head space, you outwardly research and glean examples of why something is 100% truth. When you’re in a positive mindset, the same is true, however it’s not detrimental to your own self. Your beliefs are an equation of

Thoughts + Feelings + Research/Proof= Belief.”

Penning the path ahead

I have been invited to be part of The Just Be Revolution and not only co-found this amazing revolution, but share my story and journey ahead coupled with artworks and imagery for each piece. Pretty cool from my perspective.
Just Be is…
A Revolution of courage, strength and love.
A Revolution of tolerance, kindness and confidence.
A Revolution to change how we feel about ourselves and to change how we see others.
Just Be is fighting for a future where everyone is accepted for who they are and how they look. The Just Be Revolution is a platform to share stories, and as our army grows, our voice will get louder. Together we are stronger and can make the world a better place for everyone.

Just Be is for everyone who wants to live in a kinder, more tolerant world where nobody is judged on their appearance. Just Be is for everyone who wants to help change what society sees as beautiful, normal and acceptable. Just Be is for anyone who has been teased, bullied, abused, beaten up, or worse, because of how they look or how they choose to look. Just Be is for everyone who is confident and happy to just be who they are.
We are fighting for a world where nobody is afraid to be themselves.

Many people have NO clue to my history and it’s not something I’ve ever shared. I’m finding though in my older years it’s becoming unwanted, disliked baggage that needs aired and dropped off along the road. I’m tired of seeing cyclic patterns arise and continue to prevail where change is growing.
I’m tired of the bullies and abusers.
The opinions that drive so many to lead pain filled, suppressed lives.
I’m tired of not living for me. For living how others perceive I “should”.
I’m tired of the ‘shoulds’ ‘musts’ ‘cant’s’ of life.
I’m tired of the abuse.

I just want to watch those around me thrive and blossom. I want to create art that speaks to those in transitions, pain, dark spaces and show them a path back to the light. It can be done- it’s not easy but it CAN be done.

So in light of this, here’s my first post for The Just Be Revolution:

“I’ve battled my whole life to become the strong person I am today.  I’ve heard that what gets you through the first half of your life is completely different than what gets you through the second half of your life.
I know I’m not quite at the “second half” point yet, but I’ve been learning a lot about myself, and what I want for my life, over the last year or so. I’m doing a little reinventing early.”

I hope you enjoy the adventures and the imagery that accompanies this journey!

Relocation to Coffs Harbour NSW

Urunga Boadwalk- Iphone Panorama snap

28th October 2012

After a tumultuous final month in Canberra I am happy to announce we have relocated to Coffs Harbour on the sunny NSW coastline.

My baby girl was very ill the last month or so with Pneumonia and a bacterial infection and we were in and out of hospital a number of times with her.
Since relocating a week ago both of our health is on the mend and I am finally feeling well enough to make it through the day without a day nap.

I know there are two outstanding editing jobs to do- they are well and truly under way and shouldn’t be much longer. I haven’t started looking for work as yet, due to these jobs being extra special and I want to do them personally.

Once I am back on top of everything and the boxes are unpacked I will be setting up again here in Coffs. There will be a few giveaways and promotions pre Christmas so watch this space. I will be back in Canberra the weekend of 23rd November for work so if you are still down south and would like some photographs taken please give me a call as there are only a few spots remaining.

Thursday Quit Day

As many of you know, I am training to be an accredited Beloved Photographer. I adore everything about this highly creative movement and really feel like life has changed for me since I began the journey earlier this year.
Through this course I met the amazing Bob Goff through his novel “Love Does” and I must say I’m finding some people in my life now fairly frustrating because they are not my type of whimsy or loving. It really has opened so many doors for me and made me look at myself to find the source of problems and often find them in the form of allowing people to walk all over me, allowing people to say things that I take to heart and not standing up for myself and my values.

My latest valuable experience was listening and reading my fellow Beloved photographers speaking about Bob Goff’s speech at the Beloved Collective. I was BUSTING to get there but unfortunately wasn’t able to.
If you have four minutes watch the video here, Bob said to them:

“Every single Thursday, I quit something, It’s Thursday. We can quit anything we want on a Thursday. I do, every week. Pick something, then quit doing it…”

— Bob Goff (@bobgoff)

Easy right? So often we get bogged down by all the stuff we have to do every week, so the solution according to Bob is: get rid of it!

So we are up to Week 5 since the Beloved Collective in Palm Springs and here are my QUITS to date. I will keep up my weekly Quits on here and I’d love for you to add yours as well.

Week 1– I’m going to quit not feeling good enough. It’s about time my goals frightened me and my self esteem increased. I can and do take beautiful imagery. I am worth more than far too cheap. Good bye little voice today you lose for once.

Week 2– I’m going to quit biting my finger nails. I have done this my whole life and never been able to stop.

Week 3– I’m going to quit feeling guilty for being a good mum AND running a business. I CAN do both. Its about balance.

Week 4 – Step away from the social media drain. I’ve found I spend so much time watching and reading facebook and not “doing”. So this week is no more wasting. Time to DO and be Whimsy. Facebook alerts are now OFF and I’m spending FAR less time reading everyone else s life. Time to Live mine.
P.s Finger nails have grown a LOT.

Week #5 I have decided to quit dairy properly. I know it makes me sick yet every now and then I still try it and feel sick for days. No more. Chocolate today made me happy for 1 minute and feeling sick for hours since. Haha

Love Does

Love is never stationary. In the end love doesn’t just ‘Keep thinking about it’ or ‘Keep planning for it’
Simply put
Love Does

Bob Goff

I have been recommended a few books lately ( not that I have that much time on my hands to be able to read) and “Love Does” was one that caught my attention. It wasn’t shades of anything or a fictional book. It was described to me as a novel about what love can be.
I am one of the lucky few with an amazing husband and little daughter. We are the three amigos and for us Love is most definitely not stationary… Ever…

So far I’m 1/2 way through the book and I am struggling to put it down. It does have reference to the christian faith but from the author perspective. It’s not a ‘you must live this way’ its a ‘this happened to me’ sort of way. I appreciate that and I’ve honestly not noticed them too much.

So far there are some HILARIOUS moments and I can’t wait to keep reading.
I have decided that love is like a skill, you have to keep learning in love like you do in life or you will become stuck.
