Just Be Revolution – “Your Way Or Their Way”

This is a very personal post today, I know that being comfortable and content is one thing but happiness is SO much more. Feeling ‘enough’ to receive anything is a struggle. To receive thanks, money, gratitude, compliments… name it.
I’ve already achieved much in my life but was it “My Way” or “Their Way”… enjoy!

“All my life, when I’m truly honest with myself I’ve always done the ‘right thing’ or ‘what’s expected.’ I passed high school well, I traveled for a year, I went to uni and graduated, got married, work hard, had kids, am a good mum and wife. I’m now 33 with 3 kids and although I’m content I do sometimes wonder what would life look like IF?”

Just Be- Blog “Your Are Your Thoughts”

Please click on the link below to read more from my Just Be Revolution Blog post:

“When you spend so much time in a negative head space, you outwardly research and glean examples of why something is 100% truth. When you’re in a positive mindset, the same is true, however it’s not detrimental to your own self. Your beliefs are an equation of

Thoughts + Feelings + Research/Proof= Belief.”

Penning the path ahead

I have been invited to be part of The Just Be Revolution and not only co-found this amazing revolution, but share my story and journey ahead coupled with artworks and imagery for each piece. Pretty cool from my perspective.
Just Be is…
A Revolution of courage, strength and love.
A Revolution of tolerance, kindness and confidence.
A Revolution to change how we feel about ourselves and to change how we see others.
Just Be is fighting for a future where everyone is accepted for who they are and how they look. The Just Be Revolution is a platform to share stories, and as our army grows, our voice will get louder. Together we are stronger and can make the world a better place for everyone.

Just Be is for everyone who wants to live in a kinder, more tolerant world where nobody is judged on their appearance. Just Be is for everyone who wants to help change what society sees as beautiful, normal and acceptable. Just Be is for anyone who has been teased, bullied, abused, beaten up, or worse, because of how they look or how they choose to look. Just Be is for everyone who is confident and happy to just be who they are.
We are fighting for a world where nobody is afraid to be themselves.

Many people have NO clue to my history and it’s not something I’ve ever shared. I’m finding though in my older years it’s becoming unwanted, disliked baggage that needs aired and dropped off along the road. I’m tired of seeing cyclic patterns arise and continue to prevail where change is growing.
I’m tired of the bullies and abusers.
The opinions that drive so many to lead pain filled, suppressed lives.
I’m tired of not living for me. For living how others perceive I “should”.
I’m tired of the ‘shoulds’ ‘musts’ ‘cant’s’ of life.
I’m tired of the abuse.

I just want to watch those around me thrive and blossom. I want to create art that speaks to those in transitions, pain, dark spaces and show them a path back to the light. It can be done- it’s not easy but it CAN be done.

So in light of this, here’s my first post for The Just Be Revolution:

“I’ve battled my whole life to become the strong person I am today.  I’ve heard that what gets you through the first half of your life is completely different than what gets you through the second half of your life.
I know I’m not quite at the “second half” point yet, but I’ve been learning a lot about myself, and what I want for my life, over the last year or so. I’m doing a little reinventing early.”

What is a Brand Style Guide?

We’ve all seen it. Someone hands you a business card with a great logo, but when you go to check out their website (or other marketing vehicles) they don’t match the look or quality. Situations like this are why understanding the importance of having a strong, consistent brand identity is essential in today’s marketplace. Making sure that your marketing tools have the same overall look and feel not only reinforces your credibility with your customers, but it also makes you stand out from the crowd. So how do you make sure your brand stays consistent? Well, this is where having a well-crafted Brand Style Guide comes into play.

What Is a Brand Style Guide?
A Brand Style Guide (also commonly referred to as a “brand guidelines,” “brand standards,” or a “brand book”) is essentially a set of rules that explain how your brand works. These guidelines typically include basic information such as:

– An overview of your brand’s history, vision, personality and key values.
– Logo set-up specifications — including tagline usage
– Visual examples of your correct and incorrect logo treatments
– Your chosen color palette
– Your chosen type style(s)
– Business card and letterhead design

If you’re just starting out and you only require a few key marketing tools at this point, focusing on the above areas may be enough. However, to make sure all your bases are covered, you may choose to go with a more detailed Brand Style Guide that also includes:

– Photography style
– Supporting graphic elements
– Design layouts and grids
– Social media profile page applications
– Brochure/flyer layout options
– Website layout
– Signage specifications
– Advertising treatments
– Merchandising applications
– Copywriting style (a.k.a. “tone of voice”)
– Editorial guidelines

These brand rules should be flexible enough for designers to be creative, but rigid enough to keep your brand easily recognizable and stylistically consistent. Occasionally, situations will call for rules to be bent — but never broken. Continuity is key, especially if you need the brand to extend across multiple media platforms.

When Should You Have a Brand Book Developed?
Ideally, your brand style guide should be developed by an experienced graphic designer or marketing agency at the same time your logo is being designed. This will help to ensure that all of your promotional channels are aligned — no matter who develops them for you in the future. Even if you’ve already had a logo designed, you can still hire a designer (preferably the same one who created your logo) to develop a Brand Style Guide that flows well with your existing logo.

Your finished Brand Style Guide should be a user-friendly PDF document that can be conveniently provided to any contact that needs to better understand your brand. Some businesses also include their brand guidelines on their website or via an online link that is only accessible to those designated to view them.

How to Use a Brand Style Guide
When promoting your brand you often need to hire third parties (i.e, advertisers, designers, photographers, printers, etc.) to help convey your company’s image, message and services/products. But there’s a strong chance that these vendors do not fully understand the brand. By meeting with them to discuss your objectives and supplying them with a copy of your Brand Style Guide, they will be better prepared to create tools that work as a cohesive unit.

Here’s a reminder of what often happens when you DON’T provide your vendors with your brand guidelines:
– Inappropriate use of your logo and tagline
– Incorrect used of colors, typefaces and design elements
– A lack of cohesion in the handling of the logo and overall design that gives a piece a cheap or confusing appearance
– Inconsistent messaging that result in poor sales

The Bottom Line
It’s important to understand that your logo is NOT your brand, but rather a key component in your overall brand strategy. How that logo is rolled out into each aspect of your business operations is really where the branding magic happens. By developing Brand Book in conjunction with your logo, you can help to ensure that all of your customer touch-points (i.e, brochures, advertising, invoices, Twitter page, etc) are carried out in a high-impact, consistent manner — no matter which designer, agency, photographer, or advertiser you hire to create your materials.

Out of the Fire

I realized a few things after my business launch. 3)I have some really awesome supporters of my work.  2) I really need to write down my speeches or I forget everything I hoped to say when I stand in front of my friends 1) I’m REALLY good at self sabotage due to my upper limit issues.

As I sat down on the evening of July 4th and reflected on our crazy weekend I realized that by knowing where I was at physically was no where near my emotional or brain space. Who knew you could be in three places at once!
I had picked a fight the evening before with hubby and was feeling preeeeety crappy about myself for no apparent reason. THANKFULLY I am reading an awesome book right now and realized after some reflection that indeed my ‘upper limitations’ were alive and kicking me around. Taking myself to hubs and apologizing he got me talking more about it. I had no idea that something that makes me so incredibly happy to do and produce would also be a direct to my biggest downfall- I didn’t feel like I DESERVED the success I had. I didn’t FEEL that I was worthy of people showing up and supporting me and my passion. I got to wondering just how many other women and men go through this?

I very quickly had a building feeling in me that I needed to get out. A friend sent me an image of a public statue in Brooklyn NY which sent shock waves through my mind. With a great deal of work and tweaking “Out of the Fire” was produced.
This DreamScape is DEFINITELY being printed for my own office to remind me that out of the fire phoenix are reborn, coal is made and from there so are diamonds. In a round about, Julie kind of thinking, way.

This piece is probably not the last to cross my path but it’s definitely a stepping stone for me to remember I AM worthy. I am talented and skilled and all those other words I cannot say out loud some days.
I am a multitude of things but, I am incredibly imperfect in my own perfect kind of way.

I love you heaps,

Jules

Out of the flames:
Let me ask you, what is wrong with lifting yourself up from your circumstances to chase your dreams? Why do we allow ourselves to prevent our being better, stronger and more abundant?
It’s a rough few steps but they’re worth taking. Lift yourself out of your comfort and ride towards your zone of genius. Be who you were put on this earth to be, and love the life you have to live.
Stop allowing yourself to feel others doubts, words and limitations and rise up. RISE UP!!
Today, tomorrow and the future is YOURS. No one elses.

Official Launch of Julie Clyde Creative

Saturday, 2nd July 2016 will remain one of my favourite days to date.
At 7pm, Chris and I were met by a continuous stream of friends both old and new coming to celebrate and support the launch of my business. It blew my mind.

For those of you who don’t know what Julie Clyde Creative is a Modern Illustrative Portraiture, DreamScapes and Customised Heirloom Artworks.

What does all that mean? I can take any image you love and turn it into something incredible. Through modern technologies combined with traditional methods, I will create an heirloom that can be kept in your family for years and years to come.
Can you imagine your families portrait on the walls of your great grand children?
Can you imagine having a piece of art that reflects a piece of who you are, what you stand for and what you love?

My DreamScapes are five or six images that I have either photographed myself or purchased, layered and shaped to create unique imagery. These have been images that I cannot get out of my head or inspired by people, places and events in my life. It was funny standing back at the launch and telling people the order they were created in. I could feel within myself turning points in my life that each piece reflected back to me.

Being able to take an image, paint it, create it and see it live has been such a joy for me. It wasn’t long after my twins came home from hospital that I painted our youngest son for the first time. That image sat on my phone for two and a half years. 2 1/2. 912 and a half days to be exact. I wanted so much to print him, but stood in my own way and never did.
He was the first image I printed, the first box I opened and he is my pride and joy because I know the feelings I had around taking the steps to complete his image.
The nerves I had when I went to collect the three artworks for the launch from the framers were crazy.
I had to call in two girlfriends for support (via texts) to which both told me the same thing. Go. Get. Your. Art.
When they opened them all up, it was so hard not to cry in front of the lady in the store. It was all pride in seeing it coming to fruition.
There is such a huge part of myself that is put into each and every piece it feels like I have my babies on show.
It was a very big thing for me to stand in my own right and say, THIS, right here, is me. THIS is what I LOVE to do and THIS is my passion. These images are my life, my soul and have been created with so much love.

If it hadn’t been for Modern Femme and the amazing women behind it, this business, direction in life, launch and dream would never have taken the steps it did. I know I tell the women behind it all the time just how much I am grateful for them but I truly am. They are amazing. Their vision they created has brought about so many of the women I met at the conference to step up and take steps to chase their dreams in life. It’s not just me, I know of five or six of us all doing incredibly things.

All of my artwork is now live and available for purchase via my Etsy Store.
I am only creating 100 prints of the DreamScapes and they all come with Certificates of Authenticity with their numbers and information about the piece. My custom works which are for sale, will only ever be printed for sale once. They will also come with a certificate and safe knowledge of it being the only one of it’s kind.

I hope you enjoy a few images from the launch- we got so busy I forgot to take many! Thank you to everyone’s support from around the world! Each message meant a lot to me xxx
