I created this piece late last year. I was feeling mostly lost about our planet and climate problems, but felt strongly that our children would be the ones to create the change so many of us have been wanting to see. My own children were voicing their fears and anger over the issues at 3 and 4 years old from snippets they would hear on the radio or the continuos logging trucks they were seeing. I feel that now, more than ever we need to be speaking, creating and making noise about climate action.
Our local industry is dying, our farms are dying, we are in drought across our country and soon that issue will be on every single one of our front doorsteps. We ALL need to do something. 8 – 10 years is nothing. We literally have no time like the present to make the change.
So many of my friends, myself included, feel lost, powerless and upset by the media and our ‘systems’ who seem to continually fail us. They’re choosing profits and money over humanity. Then there are communities and organisations who have been working tirelessly for decades upon decades to share the science and ‘proof’ that something needed to be done. Kerry Obrian speaks of 1979 covering his first interview about greenhouse gas problems yet nothing was done. In 1991, he again speaks of the scientific proof of the same damaging ways yet our governments continued.
We all need to step up and take massive action together, or we all will have NO future.
