Canberra trip 2014

Canberra trip 2014

This weekend past I spent four days in Canberra photographing 8 incredible families. I was allowed into their stories and love for a few hours. I have to admit I didn’t think I would come away as blown away as I have.
I photographed early and photographed late into the evening. Each person had their own uniqueness and beauty. Each person was carrying their own baggage and fighting battles with a front of happiness and humour. The fighters especially showed me how resilient some people are.
Thank you to each and ever one of you for your welcoming approach to our sessions. x I will blog each family where appropriate and with permission I will share some of their stories.

I captured this image before one of my early morning sessions. I used to row 6 mornings a week on this lake and I must admit being back there so early in the morning brought back many mixed emotions. I spent more time at the old racecourse the day before making peace with the demons of the lake. I never reaslised how many mixed emotions that area still held for me 13 years later. It was good to have some closure.
