Before I get started it is important to under stand two things:
“Quilting is a sewing method done to join two or more layers of material together to make a thicker padded material. A quilter is the name given to someone who works at quilting. Quilting can be done by hand, by sewing machine, or by a specialist longarm quilting system.” Wikipedia
“The type of person who completes you. She is absolutely beautiful and the guy that is with her is the luckiest guy in the world. They will be in love forever. Also likes red, piano and can sing amazingly.”
Right, now we have those two VERY important quotes out-of-the-way it is time to tell you about the Lucy I know and treasure as a friend. I met her a number of years ago through friends of ours and her husbands brother…Kept up with that? Both of our husbands are serving military men and with the too and fro-ing of defence life we finally both landed in the same place, Canberra.
Lucy has given me many opportunities to capture her beautiful family and more recently her amazing quilt work. It is unlike any quilting you’ve seen traditionally and that’s what I love about it. She is a master artist in the skill of needles and threads.
Her blog is such a great spot to read about what she is working on and it captures the details she is creating as she goes. I really appreciate that being obsessed with how things go together from a very young age- there were many toy fatalities in my house once I worked out how to use a screw driver.
This gorgeous quilt is about to take a road trip to Sydney to enter into a quilting competition for under 35’s. I’d like to think she has a shot at number one but being biased and not seeing the competition I can only speculate. So, Lucy… in my eyes…you win 🙂
