Tash & Wita Part 1

When Tash and I met I was slightly worse for wear with sea sickness aboard Young Endeavour. It is a training ship for the youth of Australia and quite the experience.
Not knowing anyone else on the ship her bubbly personality soon captured my vomit stricken belly and had me laughing. I’m not even sure the precise moment we met, I just know I have never looked back.
Little did anyone know to begin with, my future husband (boyfriend at that time) was aslo on our cruise as a ‘prospective Young Endeavour Leader’ with Navy. He had been asking Tash if I was ok and trying to find out how I was without asking me haha. Knowing full well I was annoyed with him for making his way on board my cruise. That’s another story.
She spoke a little about ‘Wita’ back home, a lot about her netball and horse and then a little more about her ‘Wita’.

When she asked me to photograph her day with Jerome (Wita) needless to say I was elated. Spending a whole weekend with them all was something NOT to be missed. Having met up the year before in Tasmania for another wedding i had finally had the chance to meet her Wita. He was an amazing, quiet guy who balanced her perfectly.

Her gorgeous parents let me stay with them at their farm and her dad had me out on the quad bike the day before the wedding to move fences and check the cows. An amazing experience in itself PLUS I was able to learn to ride a manual quad bike. I didnt do too badly but dad was most patient with me.

The day of the wedding rolled around and we woke early to the start of a fabulous day.
Tash went down to her horse and fed it whilst her bridesmaid started making lunches for the location photographs.
There was SO much happening with dad writing his speech and being proof read by Tash’s sister, make up to be done, hair to put up and iPod’s to fill with music for the reception… Tash is brilliant at last minute tasks.
Just as the morning was kicking into fifth gear, a groomsman appeared with a gift for Tash. Little did she know at our location scouting the morning before, Wita had been planning what to get her. His choice was beautiful. A hand written card for her accompanied by a gorgeous jewellery box with jewellery inside.

As Tash headed off to get into her gown, her flowers arrived and soon she came through the door for the first time for her family to see. As her old Holden’s arrived it was time to leave the family home and head to the Church in Westbury.

There is SO much to write and share this is the end of part one….

Hope and Charity

Today was never going to be an easy task… Photographing another photographer is no easy feat especially when it is Hope Copeland.
Hope and Charity met a few years ago at uni doing a course completely wrong for them both. I had the pleasure of meeting Charity first time today and needless to say there were a lot of giggles throughout the session.
Hope and Charity are such a support network for each other, with both husbands heading away for periods of time…Some longer than others, the support never ceases.
This gorgeous friendship was one to behold.

The in jokes, the giggles and insane and creative replies to my questions had me wanting to spend more time with them both as we could.
Hope’s not very good at coming in second, so when Charity was winning their running race, Hope went for her behind…
Thank you both for allowing me into your circle for a few hours this morning. Safe travels to you Hope and to your hubby Charity. Just remember there’s a huge support network in Canberra if you need one outside your cupcake eating nutter.

Natalie | A new addition

I have to admit there’s something really special about having clients return to share their next step in life with you. A bit over a year ago, Chris and I had the honour of capturing Nina and Daniel’s wedding day. It was a very intimate affair with just close family and friends in attendance. I got to know the couple really well as is the case with my bridal couples, and I remember her telling me that Daniel made her feel amazing and precious every single day they are together. It really struck a chord with me.

Not long after the wedding, whilst delivering her prints and albums I met with a GLOWING Nina. She was thrilled to let me know they were going to have a baby.

So let me introduce you to Natalie…
She is a little gorgeous girl who let me try a few poses. Being my very first newborn session in this style it was a pleasure to have SUCH a cooperative little one. Being used to more lyfestyle sessions where nothing is posed this style is fun, challenging and the results are SO worth it.
I had a super assistant in the form of Hope Copeland . She is a newborn photographer extraordinaire! Thank you a million times again and again for your honesty, education and love.

Rosie and her Hanbok

I have had the pleasure of friendship from Lucy and James for a few years now since meeting them at a wedding in January 2009. Lucy, like me is a defence spouse and has created an online facebook support network. She’s a little amazing with three kids, working and keeping an eye out for all of us. I’m sure she would be saying “pfft” and laughing to herself at the minute.
I have had the pleasure of photographing her little family twice now and I must admit I do love their little personalities. Mr E and Miss R are very close in age and little Mstr 8months is just a giggling ball of fun! His little vampire toothy smile is a little special at the minute.

A little while ago, Lucy’s brother met a korean lady whilst travelling and are now engaged. Miss Ha sent over a traditional Hanbok for Rosie and Lucy wanted to make sure she had photographs of it before she grew out of it, not surprisingly as it is out of this world.
Simply stunning isn’t it!
Just because I couldn’t resist, I took a few very quick shots of little master Linc.
He’s just beautiful. I said that already I know but all of these kids have a beautiful nature to them. Full of life and cheekiness and trouble for mum! haha Perfect mix!

Lucy | 21 days early

I had the pleasure of a BUSY week last week, photographing two families children. On Monday I had the honour of working with Lisa and Andrew’s new addition, Lucy.
Whilst her big brother Mr Two hung out in her bassinette I got busy with cuddling Lucy.
She arrived three weeks early on 21st June to an elated mum and dad. Mr Two was a little more reserved but has been warming up to her more and more now she is home with him to stay.
Monday 2nd July was her due date which was the date we photographed her. I ADORED this session so much and I was extra excited to be including some Dainty Little Things acessorises to the session.

Thank you to my extra special helper Suzie, my little sister in law who was my super assistant on the day.

Creative Asia

For those of you following along at home, you may remember very recently seeing this on the blog: Models | In a new light. Well, since then I have been a little busy and edited and entered a couple of images into the Canon Creative Asia Photographic Awards.

I entered them a couple of years ago with HUGE success if I do say so myself, coming home with three bronze awards, a silver award and a top 20 placing in asia for portraiture. Thrilling stuff! You can visit our old blog to see the images here.

This year I have six images in various categories and my first appraisal has been sent to me. A BRONZE award in the Portrait | Environmental section. Woo! The image was of Jemma Griffiths from our shearing shed shoot in the ice and rain.
So to Bindi Kelly Make up artist and Jemma Griffiths,
Well done team!
